Author Tony Garcia makes donation to
Surfing Heritage Museum
Santa Monica, Ca - November 3 - On a
recent Californian book signing tour author
Tony Garcia donated a number of copies of Tracks of the Tiger: G-land &
Bali, Indonesia and the forthcoming Ollie's Point: Witches' Rock &
Tamarindo, Costa Rica and Sword of the Prophet: Anchor Point &
Taghazoute, Morocco to the Surfing Heritage Foundation Library.
The Tracks of the Tiger book
signing took place at Santa Monica's alternative coffee house the
Un-urban Cafe a long time Pico Blvd fixture. The
Un-urban Cafe is a prime mover in the local cultural scene and features
literary and poetry nights along with comedy shows and live music.
At the temporary depot of
Surfing Heritage Foundation in Costa Mesa author Tony Garcia met with
curator Barry K. Haun and was given a tour of the SHF's extraordinary
collection of surf boards from Duke Kahanamoku's 1920 Redwood 10'3'' to Tom
Blake's 1933 13'11'' paddleboard and Bob Simmons 1950s 10'8'' balsa
wood twin fin spoon to name just a few. Besides the historical redwood and balsa pieces there were surfboards
that might turn up at your local surf spot, like Jerry Lopez's Thunderbolt
model made famous by his pipeline rides.
The Surfing Heritage
Foundation will be soon moving to a new home in San Clemente which will
feature a 5000 sq. ft show room with 16 ft. ceilings to give the collection
the display environment it deserves.
In the coming weeks there are
more book signings
planned. In November author Tony Garcia will be in Bali for a number
of books signings planned for Kuta Beach clubs and surf shops to celebrate
the launch of Tracks of the Tiger: G-land & Bali, Indonesia.
Tracks of the Tiger is the first of a series
of surf thrillers whose action takes place at some of the premier surf spots on the planet.
Tracks of the Tiger will be followed by Ollie's Point: Witches' Rock
& Tamarindo, Costa Rica and Sword of the Prophet: Anchor Point &
Taghazoute, Morocco.
